Society for the Scientific Study of Reading conference in Copenhagen!



It’s been such a busy first summer for the BABEL Lab! 🧠 This and next week, we will be sharing all of our exciting summer updates. ✨Update 1✨: Dr. Arizmendi presented her research in Copenhagen, Denmark this month at the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading conference. It was focused on the intersection of language and literacy difficulties manifesting in mathematics performance for emerging bilingual students. It’s all connected! 👩🏽‍🏫🇩🇰


Whether you are a science, mathematics, social studies, history, PE, music, or language arts teacher, new vocabulary words NEED to be taught to students! You are first and foremost a teacher of the LANGUAGE of the content area you are teaching. This helps all students, but especially helps students with language difficulties, like developmental language disorder, and children who have a primary first language that is not English. There are many strategies to help you with teaching vocabulary — which do you use?
